Top 10 Cryptocurrency 2021 by Market Capitalization
In this chart you can see the trend of Top 15 Cryptocurrency By Market Capitalization. The data starts from January 5, 2014 and goes up to January 9, 2021. The data was taken from https://coinmarketcap.com/historical/. As of May 2021, the top Crypto is Bitcoin followed by Ethereum and Binance Coin. What is surprising is the growth of Dogecoin that in a few weeks has gone from first to enter the Top 15 and in recent days and weeks has reached the fourth place. In the first 15 positions we find besides the most known Crypto like Cardano, XRP, Litecoin, also Uniswap, Vechain and Polkadot.
Compared to January 5, 2014, it is interesting to note the general evolution that has taken place. Bitcoin, at the beginning of 2014, had a market capitalization of 11 billion, followed by Litecoin with 659 million. Only the top 5 Cryptos, from Bitcoin to Omni, had a value above $110 million. For all others it was below $100 million.
Top Crypto by Market Capitalizazion and Price
As of May 12, 2021, the top crypto by market capitalization is confirmed to be Bitcoin. In fact, Bitcoin has a capitalization of $1,063,687,729,739. A value that puts it way ahead of the other cryptos. In fact, Bitcoin distances Ethereum, the second largest Crypto in the world by market capitalization, by more than double. The distance between Bitcoin and Binance Coin instead, which has a market capitalization of $102,071,433,852 is 1000%. Therefore, removing Bitcoin from the ranking, and the already mentioned Ethereum and Binance Coin that are in second and third position, we find Dogecoin in fourth position.
Dogecoin, whose growth seems to be continuous, has reached a market capitalization of $65,568,791,338. They are followed successively by Tether, Cardano, XRP which have a value of more than $50,000,000. In eighth position we find instead Internet Computer which is recently available on Coinbase. Closing the ranking of the top 25 Cryptos by market capitalization is Monero with a value of $8,145,725,554.
Top Crypto by Price
If in the chart above we saw the top 15 Cyrpto by market capitalization, in this table you can see in addition to the market cap the Crypto price, volume and percentage change over the last hour, last 24 hours and last 7 days. Let’s start by analyzing the price first. Bitcoin in addition to having the highest market capitalization, is one of the Crypto with the highest single Crypto price. In fact, the price of Bitcoin is $56,858.28. Bitcoin is surpassed in price, always taking into consideration the top 25 Cryptos by market capitalization,by Wrapped Bitcoin which has a slightly higher value: $57,098.37. Ethereum, second by market capitalization, is also in the top positions for price with the value of an ETH hovering above $4,000. Next we find Bitcoin Cash, above $1500 and then the other Cryptos such as Monero, litecoin, Internet Computer, Filecoin and others. SHIBA INU is the crypto, among the 25, with the lowest single value: $0.00003031.
In terms of percentage change in price, in the last 24 hours, EOS is the Crypto that has had the highest growth with a value of +45.09%. In the last 7 days this Crypto has had an increase in price value of +81.49%. In the utlmost 24 hours almost all Cryptos have increased their price except Internet Computer which is down by -18.28%. Going to analyze the data of price growth and decrease in the last 7 days as mentioned EOS had a growth of +81.49% followed by Ethereum Classic, +41.86% and Bitcoin Cash with +39.52%.
Bitcoin 2020 vs Bitcoin 2021
Bitcoin, as we have seen, leads the Cryptos in market capitalization and is one of the highest value Cryptos in terms of price. But how has Bitcoin’s value changed in early 2021 compared to early 2020? As you can see in the chart above, the value of Bitcoin as of May 10 of 2021 is higher than Bitcoin in 2020 by more than 6 times.
While the value of Bitcoin in 2020, from January to May 10, was between $5,000 and $10,000, in 2021 the great growth in the value of the price, which already started on $30,000, rose sharply in February exceeding $55,000. Currently the value of Bitcoin seems to be stable, after a descent in April of the value below 50 thousand dollars, the price has returned to rise to 55 thousand dollars.
Dogecoin price
As of April 28, 2021, Dogecoin is the sixth largest crypto in the world by market capitalization. It is valued at almost 42 billion. As of today, the price of Dogecoin is $0.32. But how has it evolved over time?
To get a better idea of what happened let’s try to compare the price of Dogecoin in 2019 versus 2021. Until the end the gap between 2019 and 2021 was basically constant. If in January 2019 the price of Dogecoin was about $0.002, in 2021 this was $0.007. A gap of more than three times. The price therefore, for those who had bought this Crypto, increased a lot. But since the end of January and throughout February, the price of Dogecoin 2021 has skyrocketed. In fact, in a very short time Dogecoin reached values between 4 and 7 cents on the dollar. This variation between 2019 and 2021 became even larger when in April the value of Dogecoin’s price soared to 40 cents on the dollar.
