A first figure can help us answer this question. According to World Integrated Trade Solution estimates, Russia’s exports in 2019 were 426,7 billion US dollars.

But which are the countries in the world where Russia exports the most? And how have exports changed from 1996 to 2019?

In second place of the countries where Russia exports the most are the Netherlands with a value of 44,7878,959,710 dollars. Detached, and with less than 30 billion dollars, are Germany, Belarus and Turkey.

And in 1996, what was the situation? The 1996 figure is the first available in the WITS (World Integrated Trade Solution) database. Russia’s exports in 1996, a few years after the fall of the Berlin Wall, were worth $88,703,000,000.

But what was the top exporting country in that year? In first place among the nations was Ukraine. The Russian Federation exported over $7.555 billion to Ukraine. In second place among nations was Germania with over 7 billion and followed by the United States with 5.068 billion and China with 4.750 billion. Closing the top 15 were Poland with 2.477 billion and Hungary with 1.978 billion.
