Top 15 Best Global Brands Rankings

Let’s start by analysing the 2020 figures. What were the top brands in the world in 2020? In first place in 2000 was Coca-Cola. The company, founded in 1886, had a brand value of USD 72537 million in 2000. The company of the most popular drink in the world was ahead of Microsoft and IBM. General Electrics, Intel, Nokia, Ford, Disney and McDonald’s followed. The world’s top 15 also included the well-known cigarette brand Marlboro. Coca-Cola remained at the top of the Best Global Brands Rankings from 2000 to 2012 for 12 years. Only in 2012 was it overtaken by Apple. The top three brand positions in 2000, Coca-Cola, Microsoft and IBM were the same for all years from 2000 to 2011. Only in 2012 did the ranking undergo major changes with the advance of Apple, Google, and later Amazon.

Apple has held the number one position worldwide since 2012 and has not lost it since. On the contrary, over time it has been gaining ground on the competition. In general, it is interesting to note that in recent years the world’s leading brands have all been linked to technology and the Internet. From the aforementioned Apple to Google, Amazon, Microsoft and Samsung. Coca-Cola is still in the top 10 in the world and its value is not very different from that of 2000. If in 2000 the value of Coca-Cola as a brand was 72,537 million dollars, in 2020 it was 64,400. However, all other competitors in the tech sector have grown.
