Highest Paid Female Athletes from 2010 to 2021

The video below shows which are the 10 highest paid female athletes in the world from 2010 to 2021. Let’s start with the 2010 data. Maria Sharapova topped the list of the world’s highest paid athletes in 2010 with $24.5 million. The Russian tennis player was in fact the highest paid player in the world for many years. In second place, also 11 years ago, was Serenna Willimas. With $20.2 million Serena is $4.8 million ahead of her sister Venus Williams. Venus had a total revenue of over 15 million dollars in 2010. In the first three positions it is interesting to note that there were all female tennis players. In fourth position we find Danica Patrick with 12 million. Kim Yuna, Figure Skatin followed with 9.7 million. And from sixth to tenth we find two tennis players, Ana and Jelena Jankovic, as well as three golfers. Annika Sorenstam, Paula Creamer and Lorena Ochoa. Lorena Ochoa closes the 2010 ranking of the world’s highest-paid athletes with $5 million.

The famous tennis player Maria Sharapova has been at the top of the list of the world’s highest paid athletes for many years. However, in 2016 she was surpassed by another tennis player. Serena Williams with $28.9 million. Sharapova on the other hand in 2016 stopped at less than 22 million dollars with 21 million and 900 dolars (placing her in second position). In third place in the ranking of 5 years ago we find the MMA wrestler (and later Wrestling in WWE) Ronda Rousey. In the top ten positions in 2016 we find 8 female tennis players. And in 2021 what is the highest paid athlete in the world? In the first position we find Naomi Osaka with 55 million and 200 thousand dollars. In second place Serena Williams, who over the years has always maintained the top positions, and in third place the artistic gymnastics champion Simone Biles. Naomi Osaka in 2021 earns more than twice what Maria Sharapova earned in 2010. But, the gap between men and women is definitely still very wide.
